Adding texture to your painting is always nice, as it signifies that the artwork is original, not a print.
So, how to create a textured painting?
As an abstract artist, I love adding texture to some of my original paintings. I use several different "tools" to create texture on my canvases.
1. Silicone spatula. These spatulas are inexpensive and very easy to use. The silicone is flexible and allows for easy paste application.
2. Scraper. This scraper can be found in most Blick Art Stores. It is perfect for creating petals, however it is not very easy to use, as it is difficult to hold. Please note, this scraper has very sharp edges, be careful when you work with it.
3. Painting knife. I also use palette and painting knives. Painting knifes come in variety of shapes and sizes. Experiment and find what works best for you!
